Traineeships

A traineeship involves a student completing the qualification with both an employer and a registered training organisation. The trainee and their employer sign a contract to work together. The employer undertakes to train the trainee in all aspects of the qualification. The employer and trainee then engage a registered training organisation and negotiate a training plan to complete training for the units of competency that the employer is able to complete.

Bellevue Beauty delivers both theory lessons and practical training to successfully complete the qualification undertaken. All theory examinations and practical observations will be completed by Bellevue Beauty to ensure competence in the units of the qualification. Once the trainee is deemed competent in all units they will be issued with a certificate of successful completion in either a Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy, Certificate III in Beauty Services or a Certificate II in Retail Makeup and Skin Care.

Tuition

A traineeship can be undertaken on a full time (38 hours per week) or a part-time (at least 15 hours per week) basis. Trainees attend Bellevue Beauty Training Academy for either one half day or one full day per month for their practical observations and assessments.

School Based Traineeships

Students can also start a traineeship while they are at school during Year 11 or 12. Students still attend Bellevue Beauty Training Academy for either one half day or one full day per month for their practical observations and assessments.

For practical training the student needs to work a minimum of eight (8) hours per week, which must impact on their school timetable (48 days per year as a minimum). You can negotiate with students to work on weekends, after school or during school holidays, but must also gain permission from their parent. Students will need to get their parent/guardian to sign their training contract on the day of sign up into their traineeship. If the student continues with the employer once they complete Year 12, the employer must transfer the trainee to either part time or full time hours.

Rural Traineeships

For trainees who are employed and live outside the Brisbane metropolitan area, other arrangements can be made to accommodate the trainee depending on how far they have to travel. For example, the trainee may wish to come to Brisbane for one or two full days every two months, or two or four full days every four months. It is also possible to arrange to take this training in blocks during the school holidays.

Please note this course is competency based, therefore the duration may vary. For the Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy, the nominal period is 24 months, but this is the maximum period to undertake this qualification. The nominal period for the Certificate III in Beauty Services is 24 months part time. The nominal duration for the Certificate II in Retail Makeup and Skin Care is 12 months.
